„TRAUTY“ is the new project (Oct. 2025) by Bernhard Traut, aka B.troit @COLOGNE/Germany.
In the beginning he played guitar for the locally successful German-language progressive rock band “L’Ego Kochen,” always searching for an unburdened guitarsound—moving away from common clichés and toward unusual chord progression with plenty of open strings to create a full sound.
After the band broke up, he founded the German indie pop/rock band “TRAUT” as the singer and guitarist. His influences included major indie bands like Sonic Youth, The Pixies, Slow Dive, The Cure or Blumfeld. The German lyrics were combined with a dynamic sonority that ranged from dreamy delay effects to walls of distorted sound.
Over time, the shared music- studio was expanded and members invested in high-quality recording equipment. This is where one really has let loose—with synths, drum machines, tube amplifiers, and all the various guitar- effects to create a truly unique sound for the electric guitars.
During this time, TRAUTY also ventured into other genres; for example, as B.troit he served as co-producer for his buddy DJ Andy Vaz for years. Together, they produced and released numerous deep house EPs and two LPs.
Already as a young boy, TRAUTY dreamed of playing the drums.
He took his place behind the kit more and more often at various music sessions until he was asked by the band “MerryMuch” to fill the vacant drummer position.
He continues to do so to this day, but also keeps contributing song ideas on the guitar, which the band is happy to adopt. The studio in Cologne-Mülheim, which has since become a full-fledged music studio, was renamed “merrymuchstudio” and is still used today in collaboration with others.
TRAUTY is now comfortable playing different instruments and has decided to focus even more on studio work to produce audio tracks that also function as background music while remaining true to the ever- evolving indie guitar sound…
Just like branded cattle. Headphones that have become part of the ears. Lost in music. TRAUTY has no choice—he has to get off the couch, put the guitar aside, keep in mind the riff…and head to the studio.
